We are seeking a Dynamometer Engineer to lead the planning, setup, and execution of engine and chassis dynamometer testing. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in test methodologies and data analysis to optimize powertrain performance, enhance reliability, and support vehicle-level development.
Key Responsibilities
- Dynamometer Setup & Operation: Plan, prepare, and configure test cell equipment for engine and chassis dynamometer testing, ensuring correct instrumentation and safety protocols.
- Test Methodology & Procedure Development: Develop robust test procedures and methodologies to evaluate various powertrain components, including engines, transmissions, and hybrid systems.
- Data Acquisition & Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret performance data—such as torque, power, and emissions—to identify trends and optimize system performance.
- Calibration & Optimization: Collaborate with calibration engineers to refine engine control strategies, improve efficiency, and meet emissions targets.
- Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose issues quickly, conduct in-depth investigations, and implement corrective actions to ensure seamless testing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, simulation, and validation teams to translate test results into actionable insights for vehicle development.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed test reports, maintain accurate records, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory and company-specific safety standards, ensuring that testing facilities remain hazard-free and compliant.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical Experience: 2–5 years of experience in dynamometer testing, engine calibration, or related test engineering roles.
- Proficient in Test Tools: Familiarity with data acquisition systems (e.g., AVL, Horiba) and analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Excel).
- Powertrain Knowledge: Solid understanding of internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, or electric drivetrains, along with associated emissions and performance parameters.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data, troubleshoot testing anomalies, and develop actionable solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively report findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to Detail: Strong commitment to quality control and precision in test execution and data reporting.
