We are currently seeking an experienced OBD Calibration Technologist to support the development, validation, and optimization of On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) systems for both internal combustion engines and hybrid/electric powertrains. In this role, you will leverage your diagnostic and calibration expertise to ensure compliance with emissions regulations while delivering top-notch vehicle performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • OBD System Calibration: Conduct OBD calibrations for engine and hybrid powertrains to meet regulatory standards (EPA, CARB).
  • Diagnostic Strategy: Collaborate with engineers to design, validate, and refine diagnostic strategies for systems such as oxygen sensors, EGR, and fuel systems.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize tools like MATLAB, INCA, CANalyzer, and dSPACE for data collection and analysis, optimizing system performance and drivability.
  • Vehicle Testing: Perform comprehensive vehicle testing to validate OBD functionality and emissions control under varied driving conditions.
  • Hardware & Software Integration: Support the installation, integration, and validation of new hardware and software in both prototype and production vehicles.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve calibration-related issues, ensuring adherence to emissions requirements and performance targets.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear documentation of calibration processes, test results, and issue resolutions, sharing insights with key stakeholders.
  • Technical Support: Provide expertise during vehicle emissions testing and certification processes, addressing any OBD-related concerns.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Associate's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Tech/Engineering (or equivalent professional experience) preferred.
  • Industry Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on automotive calibration experience, with a primary focus on OBD systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competent using ETAS INCA, dSPACE, MATLAB, and other diagnostic or calibration software.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of emissions regulations (EPA, CARB) and OBD-II protocols.
  • CAN Bus Familiarity: Experience with CAN communication protocols and tools (e.g., CANalyzer).
  • Testing & Certification: Involvement in regulatory testing and certification processes.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to independently troubleshoot complex issues and collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for clear reporting and teamwork.
