Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced OBD Calibration Technician to support the development, validation, and optimization of On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) systems for internal combustion engines and hybrid/electric powertrains. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in diagnostics and calibration with a strong understanding of automotive systems and emission regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct OBD system calibration for engine and hybrid powertrains, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (EPA, CARB).
- Collaborate with engineers to design and validate diagnostic strategies for various components (e.g., oxygen sensors, EGR, fuel systems).
- Analyze calibration data using tools such as MATLAB, INCA, and CANalyzer to optimize system performance.
- Perform vehicle testing to validate OBD functionality, emissions control, and drivability in diverse conditions.
- Support the integration and validation of new hardware and software in prototype and production vehicles.
- Troubleshoot and resolve calibration-related issues, ensuring compliance with emissions and performance standards.
- Document and report calibration development processes, findings, and improvements to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide technical support during vehicle emissions testing and certification processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 2-5 years of experience in automotive calibration with a focus on OBD systems.
- Proficiency with calibration tools such as ETAS INCA, dSPACE, and MATLAB.
- Strong understanding of automotive powertrain systems, emissions regulations, and diagnostic strategies.
- Knowledge of CAN bus and OBD-II protocols.
- Experience with regulatory testing and certification (CARB, EPA).
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
